This is something I wanted to do for awhile. I’ve seen lots of grosgrain ribbon headbands in stores these days and thought they should be really simple to make. So I finally got around to trying to make one today and here is the result:

The one on the left is from J.Crew and the one on the right is hand-made by me.

I know, the way I just sewed on the elastic band on the ribbon is messy. I’ll have to refine my methods as I make more. This is just a little practice

The problem with elastic headbands is that they never stay on my head. I always need the help of at least three hairpins. Is it just me? I prefer the plastic headbands to the elastic ones but these are so easy to make, and with all kinds of grosgrain ribbons available, it’ll be hard not to make another one. Well, till next time.

As some of you heard from Matt’s blog, I have been ‘tumbling’ at my tumblelog right here. It doesn’t mean I will stop blogging here, though. Not yet.

Why Tumblr? I just find it very convenient and attractive. I like the option of linking my Flickr to Tumblr so that whenever I post new pictures at Flickr, it automatically gets posted to Tumblr. And with one click, I can share a link without ever actually going to my Tumblr dashboard. Cool! It’s quick and easy, for people who don’t like writing too much, like me.

I have yet to decide on the future of this blog. I may continue it, to share my art and craft adventures in more details. I don’t know if Tumblr is ready for those types of posts yet. If Tumblr enables commenting and adds a search function (I don’t really care of Categories, I realized), then it could make my decision much easier…

Also, to let you know, I’m going to work on the homepage at http://www.lilacmoon.net/ very soon. All it says right now is COMING SOON but I think it will become a gateway for all my personal sites on the internet, like Flickr, this blog, Tumblr, and Twitter.

Hehe.. I admit, I am skipping several days.. I have no excuse!

My obsession with stippling continues.. I find it a very good way to shade with markers or pens because I suck at hatching or cross hatching. This time, I decided to had a dash of watercolor washes.. and to my surprise, the marker I used to outline the clouds wasn’t waterproof! But I actually like the bleeding effect. Maybe I can learn to use that more effectively..

I haven’t blogged the past few days but that doesn’t mean I forgot to do some art every day!

As you can see, my doodles have become more elaborate. That’s what happens when you don’t have any power in the house (no internet *gasp*).

And as I promised earlier, a Valentine’s Day special!

stippling + color pencils = more subtlety

More thin lines but this time I added some additional color with color pencils! woot!

Where are the bold outlines, you ask? Mwahaha.. I wanted to do something different and the pattern of the paper required some delicacy, so I decided to go with just thin lines. I like them, so there!

I’m going bold again. This actually looks better digitized and displayed on a website than it does in person.. strange how that works, eh?

I ALMOST forgot last night to do some sort of art. Phew~

Man, it shows when your heart’s not into it.. Although I don’t think it’s bad, it’s not good either. Just meh. And I guess I’m not sick of these just yet.
