The future of this blog?

Friday, May 18th, 2007

As some of you heard from Matt’s blog, I have been ‘tumbling’ at my tumblelog right here. It doesn’t mean I will stop blogging here, though. Not yet.

Why Tumblr? I just find it very convenient and attractive. I like the option of linking my Flickr to Tumblr so that whenever I post new pictures at Flickr, it automatically gets posted to Tumblr. And with one click, I can share a link without ever actually going to my Tumblr dashboard. Cool! It’s quick and easy, for people who don’t like writing too much, like me.

I have yet to decide on the future of this blog. I may continue it, to share my art and craft adventures in more details. I don’t know if Tumblr is ready for those types of posts yet. If Tumblr enables commenting and adds a search function (I don’t really care of Categories, I realized), then it could make my decision much easier…

Also, to let you know, I’m going to work on the homepage at http://www.lilacmoon.net/ very soon. All it says right now is COMING SOON but I think it will become a gateway for all my personal sites on the internet, like Flickr, this blog, Tumblr, and Twitter.

So, please continue to come by here once in awhile and be sure to visit my Tumblr! That’s where I’ll be posting almost every day. Thanks for your patience.

I thought I’d never see this day.. My sister started her very own blog!
Let us see what kinds of things she’ll write about. :)

iPod Nano advertising in Japan

Thursday, November 3rd, 2005

Hah, I’ll blog this before you, Richa!
Seriously, Matt should start a blog, ’cause he gave me lots of fun links to visit.
Like this one.. Check out all those actual-sized, plastic iPod nano replicas. Brilliant advertising, I say. Here is another link where you can see more photos. Ah, I wish I were there in Shibuya to pick up one (or two) of those. Too cool..

Matt also found this nice Japanese Dictionary application. Much easier to use than an online dictionary. We had lots of fun using that to read the article I mentioned just before.

New computer

Tuesday, November 1st, 2005

Long time no post.
Here is an interesting update on my life. I got a new computer!
Well, not exactly new since it is Richa’s old laptop. She got a spankin’ new PowerBook and sold her old Titanium PowerBook to me. Schweet~
My new laptop
Now, I have a G4 and can use the cool Adjust function in iPhoto. That function was severely limited on my iBook because it was only G3. Let’s see.. what changes are there.. Oh, the screen is just humongous. I’m still getting used to it. I think it will be better for my eyes because I can sit farther away from the screen. Oh, I’ll also have to make my own wallpapers because the the screen resolution is kinda funky, 1152×768). I like the keyboard too because it’s a lot quieter and softer than the iBooks. Well, it is a brand new keyboard after all. Hm.. what else. Oh, extra hard drive space doesn’t hurt either, which allows me to have my iPhoto library together with everything else, instead of on an external drive. I know, these may be very trivial to you but they make a big change in my life.

One bad change is that this laptop doesn’t have very good reception for the wireless network. It is titanium, after all. But that’s okay. It works well in most areas of the house. Now I can join my freinds’ prestigious PowerBook club. What to do with my iBook.. hm… ;)

Let’s Roll

Saturday, October 1st, 2005

Countdown continues! Less than one day to go! To be exact, in about 12 hours!
Matt’s copy of the game did not arrive today in the mail. We’ll see if it will tomorrow before the party but for now, I guess we’ll have to open the back-up copy.

I forgot to post something about Katamari during the day today (well, yesterday, which was Friday) because I was busy all day preparing for the partaaay. I hope it’s all worth the effort. Well, at least I’m having a lot of fun. ^_^ Anyway, check out this katamari cake. Awesome, isn’t it? How about Prince on a car? Darling Prince cell phone strap.. mmm. How about Prince pillow? Here is a way to clean up your dinner table. And a very creative way to clean up after Hurricane Katrina here.

Katamari Fortissimo Damacy

Monday, September 26th, 2005

Still 5 days left!

Any fans of the first Katamari Damacy game will tell you that its soundtrack Katamari Fortissimo Damacy rocks. It has electronic, jazz and pop scores.. My favorites are the songs that have that ‘royal’ feel, like Fugue #7777. The ending theme cracks me up because of its grand opening vocal, which reminds me of Chage & Aska’s song, On Your Mark.

Some of the notable lyrics from tracks with vocals include phrases like “Katamari do your best!”, “Check it up, funk it up, minna damatte ore ni tsuite koi, yeah!”, “Let’s roll up to be a single star in the sky.” Especially the intro tune that goes “na na na na na na na…” is very addictive.

Here is a site I found that has romaji and English translation of the lyrics.

iBook saved!

Wednesday, September 21st, 2005

I’ve been living dangerously so far, pushing my iBook’s limits a little too much. But can you blame me? It is an old G3 with 500 MHz, 640 MB SDRAM, and only 10GB, most of which I filled with iPhoto library and loads of big apps like Photoshop, Illustrator, and MS Office. I’ve been warned way too many times, ‘Your startup disk is almost full.’ I cringed everytime there was a software update. But no longer! My iBook is safe now. Last night was the last straw because it went down to 0KB free space. I’ve tolerated 48 KB before. I just closed some apps, especially Photoshop, and moved some files to other hard drives. But I don’t have to anymore~ I’m using Matt’s iPod that he doesn’t use now to house my iPhoto library. My iBook is 4.1 GB free! O. M. G. Thanks Matt!

Wallpapers for my PSP

Monday, September 19th, 2005

Today, I finally reset the password for my PSP. I had no idea what it was, and it was not 0000 or 7444. I backed up all the data on the memory card and just restored default settings. Thanksfully, it worked! I was seriously going to try all the combinations of numbers for the unknown password. I tried 0000 to 0030 and 9999 to 9990 with no luck. Good thing I didn’t have to try all of them. ^_^ So, to congratulate myself, I made some wallpapers for my PSP using my own photos from my trip to Aruba this summer:
wp1
wp2
I learned that dark backgrounds work better because the text on the screen are light. By the way, the dimensions are 480 pixels by 272 pixels.
