Russian Hill

Tuesday, November 15th, 2005

On last Sunday, Matt and I walked around the Russian Hill.. We wanted to do the little walk suggested in Stairway Walks in San Francisco but since the sun sets so early these days, we only had 2 hours to take pictures with decent amount of light.

But it was still a fun walk.. I especially liked walking on the Macondray Lane. It was a very private residential area, and I almost missed the entrance to it. I could see through the windows that people living there had amazing views of the city. We didn’t finish the whole walk because it was getting too dark, and we wanted to stay closer to Polk St, where our dinner reservation was at Tablespoon. But we got to see the sunset! It was very colorful~

On the way down to Polk St, we saw lots of nice looking restaurants, including a sushi restaurant called Okoze. It looked very nice, all fancy and modern. Could it be another case of ’style over substance,’ like Tablespoon turned out to be? I guess we’ll just have to find out.
To kill some time, we stopped by a tea place called Teavana. Matt had To Life blend tea and I had a cup of chilled Scarlet Cloud. They were both very good. Here is me reading their catalog:

Next time, we’ll start the day early and finish the walk. ^_^

iPod Nano advertising in Japan

Thursday, November 3rd, 2005

Hah, I’ll blog this before you, Richa!
Seriously, Matt should start a blog, ’cause he gave me lots of fun links to visit.
Like this one.. Check out all those actual-sized, plastic iPod nano replicas. Brilliant advertising, I say. Here is another link where you can see more photos. Ah, I wish I were there in Shibuya to pick up one (or two) of those. Too cool..

Matt also found this nice Japanese Dictionary application. Much easier to use than an online dictionary. We had lots of fun using that to read the article I mentioned just before.

So close yet so far

Darn it!
My favorite illustrator of all time,Tadahiro Uesugi, is exhibiting at Nucleus! That’s what.. near L.A.? Argh.. why not in San Francisco???

Hopefully, this is not the only time he’ll exhibit here in the U.S.
More info on the exhibit here.

New computer

Tuesday, November 1st, 2005

Long time no post.
Here is an interesting update on my life. I got a new computer!
Well, not exactly new since it is Richa’s old laptop. She got a spankin’ new PowerBook and sold her old Titanium PowerBook to me. Schweet~
My new laptop
Now, I have a G4 and can use the cool Adjust function in iPhoto. That function was severely limited on my iBook because it was only G3. Let’s see.. what changes are there.. Oh, the screen is just humongous. I’m still getting used to it. I think it will be better for my eyes because I can sit farther away from the screen. Oh, I’ll also have to make my own wallpapers because the the screen resolution is kinda funky, 1152×768). I like the keyboard too because it’s a lot quieter and softer than the iBooks. Well, it is a brand new keyboard after all. Hm.. what else. Oh, extra hard drive space doesn’t hurt either, which allows me to have my iPhoto library together with everything else, instead of on an external drive. I know, these may be very trivial to you but they make a big change in my life.

One bad change is that this laptop doesn’t have very good reception for the wireless network. It is titanium, after all. But that’s okay. It works well in most areas of the house. Now I can join my freinds’ prestigious PowerBook club. What to do with my iBook.. hm… ;)
