Saturday, August 26th, 2006

While I was shopping at Crate & Barrel yesterday, I noticed some very big panels of fabirc they used for decoration. It turns out, they are made by Marimekko!

Shopping Update #3

Saturday, August 26th, 2006

All right!
I received my Nordstrom package today! I’m on a roll!

Seriously, the flat $5 shipping fee at Nordstrom.com is too dangerous for me. Whenever I find an item I want to buy from their site, I get tempted to make the most out of the shipping fee. *shakes head* Good thing I don’t shop there very often.. I think the only times I shop there is whenever I find James Perse tank tops on sale. Even when they are on sale, they are a bit pricey but I think they are worth it. I like their long tank tops, which I find very soft and flattering. I already have them in fawn and pale yellow. This time I got one in Petal Pink and it’s really gorgeous. It’s a very pale pink, and it would go with anything.

I also got the Rachel necklace but I am going to return it because it is not as long as I thought it was going to be. I should’ve checked its measurements before buying it. T_T And it has double strands and I would go crazy trying to un-tangle them. Oh well.. I think they’re a good excuses to return it because I think these inexpensive jewelries tend to change color over time, exposing the fact that they’re not really made of gold or silver or whatever. I should just wait until I see a long necklace I really love that’s not made out of some cheap metal. It’d be a good investment.. Preferably, it’d have some key charms, or skulls, or spiders.. Yes, you read it correctly. Spiders, like this necklace. No, you do not need to be concerned. ^_^;;

The highlight of the package was this bag:
Nordstrom_hobobag
I’ve been looking for a brown, shoulder bag with very buttery, thin leather and unstructured shape, and, although it is not real leather, this bag fits my requirements and my budget. I really like the design and how the front pocket is not very noticeable. Here is a very similar one at Anthropologie:
Anthro_southsea
Almost the same! But much more expensive. Love the olive color though. :P

All right, do you approve of my latest acquisions?
I have more shopping updates to do, and they’ll be more about interior goods, for a change. Till then, bye!

More Kung Fu Kids Home Accessories

Sunday, August 20th, 2006

Remember the Kung Fu Kids Letter organizer that I posted about some time ago? Well, they have more!

Aren’t these so clever and cute?
KungFu Candleholder

KungFu Incense holder

Now that I’ve moved to a new place, I shop online a lot for cool home accessories, and I think these are really unique and fun. Btw, they also have clock and card holder and paper clip holder. They can all be found at Wrapables. Just search for ‘kung fu’ and you can see all the related items. Hiyah~!

Shopping Update #2

Sunday, August 20th, 2006

Yes, folks. I did some shopping again. Kinda late (about couple weeks late) but I’ll tell you all about it.
(Do tell!)

This was my first time shopping online at Delia’s, and it wasn’t a very pleasant experience. Their promotional code for free shipping didn’t work, and I had to call them to revise my total. I emailed them first but, apparently, they don’t check their email very often. Hmph. Anyway, their site is too teeny-bopper for me.. maybe I’m getting too old. They do have really cheap stuff though. I may shop there again for great deals on tank tops. What I’m wondering is.. how did they get my information? I wouldn’t have shopped there, had I not received the catalog.. Hm..

Here are some clothes I got from there:
Rocking out t-shirt
I got a big kick out of this t-shirt because, really, rocking out is what I do. My sister apparently wants to rock out with me, so she got one herself too.

Then there is this baby:
where are my pants?
As soon as I saw this in the catalog, I rushed to Richa, and she just loved it. (She said it just made her day) For those who don’t know, the text on the shirt is Richa’s brother-in-law(!), Scott’s favorite saying. Or so I hear. I think I heard him say it maybe once. But anyway, Prachee, I will take full credit for finding this shirt. :)

shroomy tank top
Do you like this tank top? I love long tank tops. They are great for layering, and I was pleasantly surprised by its quality. I hate it when the stitching at the bottom of ribbed tank tops don’t stretch with the tank top. This one does and is very soft. I like the pattern very much; the mushrooms remind me of that Cowboy Bebop episode where all the characters get high on some suspicious shrooms. Nice.

All right, that’s it folks. There is something else I got, a dress, but I can’t get a picture of it because it’s sold out. Phooey. I know, I can hear your disappointment.

Do not try this at home

Go watch this video by Okay Go. They are so funny! How many times did they have to practice, I wonder. Prachee, care to incorporate this into your workout? ;)

Use What You Already Have #1

Sunday, August 13th, 2006

Craft time!!
My latest project is called “Use What You Already Have.”
I collect and keep so much stuff (like pretty papers) that I decided it’s about time to use them.
This is that project Numero 1.

Use What You Have #1 - Before
This is my bedside table. See how boring the IKEA lamp and storage box are? (Btw, all the furniture are IKEA, too :P ) Need some splash of color!

Well, check this out:
Use What You Have #1 - After
You like?
(I’m not feeling like writing much, so all my sentences will be short.)
I used some nice floral-patterned paper on the lamp and a map of Italy on the right.

Here is a shot with the lamp on.
Use What You Have #1 - Light On
It’s a good thing the floral paper is semi-transparent. And that you don’t see the back side of the lamp because the paper doesn’t wrap all the way around.. I had to stop myself from buying more of it. The key was to use what I already have!
See the tiny sewing machine trinket box? It was a nice gift to me from myself. ^_^;;
Yay! That was fun and easy!
Measure, cut, paste!

When did they cook this up?

As some of you already know, I like listening to Japanese music. I like to think that I keep up with it pretty well. Especially with the artists I really like, including Utada Hikaru, wyolica, and m-flo. Apparently not so, when I found about this hip-hop group called Teriyaki Boyz. What!?! m-flo’s Verbal and Ilmari of Rip Slyme are in it?? These guys are awesome! How could I have missed this? And their first album called BEEF or CHICKEN was released last November? I failed. -_-;;

I can’t wait to listen to the album. It’s produced by big names like The Neptunes, Adrock of Beastie Boys, Daft Punk, and Cornelius. And I love it when artists from different groups get together and do collaboration projects. Like when Suite Chic brought together my favorites Zeebra, Verbal and Amuro Namie, and I love Chambers, an album by Steady & Co. (includes Ilmari and Kenji of Dragon Ash). Not to mention azumi’s (she’s the vocalist from wyolica) latest single FLY which is produced by Kenji. And all the “m-flo loves” series. My dream is to see Utada Hikaru and m-flo do a collaboration. That would totally make my day.

Okay, I gotta calm down. I’ve been thinking that my iTunes library needs some fresh music. I can’t remember the last time I was so excited about a CD..so this is great! Kinda sucks that I didn’t know about this sooner. Anyway, I will have to figure out where to get this Teriyaki Boyz album and post a review later. Just looking at its tracklisting makes me laugh. “Shout out for DELIVERY”? “Konya wa Baggy Pants” must be a reference to “Konya wa Boogie Back.” lol.. Here is the wikipedia’s entry on Teriyaki Boyz.
