The Wurstminster Dog Show

Tuesday, February 20th, 2007

How I wish I were in Portland, Oregon!
The Wurst Gallery is having an exhibit about all kinds of breeds of dogs. You can view them online here

My favorites are (I have a lot):
French bulldog by apak
Smooth fox terrier by Camilla Engman
Afghan hound by Eleanor Grosch
Norfolk terrier by Hannah Stouffer
Schipperke by Jill Bliss
Cardigan Welsh Corgi by Kate Bingaman-Burt
Lakeland Terrier by Kate Sutton
Puli by Kirsten Ulve
Scottish Terrier by Saelee Oh
West Highland White Terrier by Supermundane
Shetland Sheepdog by Susie Ghahremani
Soft coated wheaten terrier by Vincent Mathy

And can you believe this? Someone stole the Gordon Setter by Jennifer Muskopf! :( What a shame.

More daily doodles

Thursday, February 15th, 2007

I haven’t blogged the past few days but that doesn’t mean I forgot to do some art every day! ;)

689 Lines & Circles
As you can see, my doodles have become more elaborate. That’s what happens when you don’t have any power in the house (no internet *gasp*).

And as I promised earlier, a Valentine’s Day special!
Happy Valentine's Day!
although I’m a day late.. -_-;;

Where are the bold outlines, you ask? Mwahaha.. I wanted to do something different and the pattern of the paper required some delicacy, so I decided to go with just thin lines. I like them, so there!

Sketchbook - 070209

I’m going bold again. This actually looks better digitized and displayed on a website than it does in person.. strange how that works, eh?

I ALMOST forgot last night to do some sort of art. Phew~

Sketchbook - 070208
Man, it shows when your heart’s not into it.. Although I don’t think it’s bad, it’s not good either. Just meh. And I guess I’m not sick of these just yet.

I didn’t feel like doing the same kind of things.. Actually, I didn’t want to do anything. But I knew I had to go on, keep strong. So, I decided to try something I’ve always been thinking of doing. Drawing directly on my Polaroids! I have plenty of sucky ones, the ones I will never dare show you naked. So why not do something with them?

RIP
This is my tribute to the little pot, which I basically killed, because I forgot to water it. T_T

One of my very early Polaroid shots.. failed shot becomes a great canvas for me!

Bloop bloop
If you look very closely, there’s a BART train on the hill.. it’s travelling underwater! Bloop bloop..

I will admit, I felt like a five-year old drawing on the polaroids. Lots of giggling and laughing. It was so much fun!

There’s actually one more I did but I will show you on Valentine’s Day. ^_^;;

Sketchbook - 070206

This was a soothing exercise… I really felt like just putting sharp spears at the top of the stems, instead of jolly, round balls of flowers. But I didn’t.

I think, next time, I’ll start varying the line weight. -_-;; Are you getting bored with these? I think I am.

Here is my creation of the day.

Sketchbook - 070205

Ever since I visited Portland’s Chinese Garden, I’ve been thinking that lilypads are such interesting shapes to work with. I took plenty of pictures of them, too, but never did anything with them, until now! :D

This piece took more time than the previous two, and I used a lot more variety of patterns. Without the bold outlines, this composition would fall apart, for sure.
